Description

Black Obsidian is known for its strong protective qualities, absorbing negative energy and supporting emotional clarity, boundaries and truth. Combined with the symbolism of Anubis, this piece offers a steady anchor during times of change, inner work and personal transformation.

Anubis is an ancient Egyptian jackal-headed deity of mummification, embalming, and the afterlife, serving as a protector of graves and a guide for souls in the afterlife. He famously invented mummification to resurrect Osiris and oversees the “weighing of the heart” ceremony against the feather of truth (Ma’at).
  • Role & Symbolism: Anubis symbolized rebirth and the fertility of the Nile. He protected the dead from scavengers and guided them to the afterlife, ensuring safe passage to the underworld.
  • Mythological Origin: Often cited as the son of Nephthys and Set, though sometimes considered the son of Ra or Osiris. He assisted Isis in mummifying the murdered Osiris, becoming the patron of embalmers.
  • Misconceptions: While associated with death, Anubis was not considered evil or a demon; he was a revered protector crucial to the soul’s transition to the afterlife.
